RedMagic is finally bringing the RedMagic 9 Pro gaming smartphone to the global market. The smartphone features the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and other notable gaming hardware features including capacitative shoulder triggers, customizable RGB lighting and an active air-cooling system.

You can expect a 6.8-inch flat AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rates. The display panel can crack up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness and offers 2,160 PWM dimming for eye protection. It also has a sharp 960Hz touch sampling rate for a more responsive game controls feel.
The box-style design removes the curved screen and camera bumps. It comes with sleek bezels and a 16MP front-facing camera integrated under the display. Additionally, the fingerprint reader also doubles as a heart rate monitor.
Another key feature when it comes to gaming phones is the cooling system for stable performance during long hours. The RedMagic 9 Pro has a refined system comprising of the ICE 13 cooling suite which includes a 22,000-rpm cooling fan, an improved air duct, and a large vapor chamber.
The RedMagic 9 Pro comes with Red Magic’s OS 9.0 based on Android 14. Other notable features include the front Gorilla Glass 5, USB 3.2 support, a large 6,500mAH battery and 80W wired charging.
Price and availability
The RedMagic 9 Pro s available in 12GB/256GB for the Sleet model and will set you back $649 (around KES. 99,881). This is notably cheaper than the Google Pixel 8 or OnePlus 11. For more storage and RAM, you can get the 16GB/512GB Snowfall or Cyclone models for $799 (around KES. 122,966)
The Nubia RedMagic 9 Pro is available for pre-order on December 27, 2023, and open sales are expected to start on January 3, 2024.
