Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi A3, its latest budget smartphone for the Kenyan market which succeeds the A2 from last year.
The Redmi A3 is the company’s entry-level device for the country. It features an eco-leather look for the back finish. There’s also a version with a glass back as well. It has a plastic frame too.
The A3 is available in three colours – Olive Green, Lake Blue and Midnight Black.
Helio G36 processor powers the phone paired with 3/4/6GB RAM options and 64/128GB storage. You can also expand the storage with an external microSD card up to 1TB. The phone supports Extended RAM up to 8GB.
The front sports a 6.71-inch HD LCD screen with 500 nits peak brightness and a 90Hz refresh rate which a lot of people will like especially at its price point. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass screen alongside a pre-applied screen protector.
Xiaomi is shipping the Redmi A3 with Android 14 and MIUI 14.
For optics, the A3 has an 8MP dual AI camera setup at the back and a 5MP selfie camera. Video recording is capped at 1080p 30fps for both main and front cameras.
Fueling the A3 is a 5000mAh battery that supports 10W Type-C charging.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a headphone jack.

The Redmi A3 is available from Ksh 11,600 at official Xiaomi online and retail stores, partner retail stores, Jumia, Ropem and Kilimall.
