Baidu has introduced two AI models, Ernie 4.5 and Ernie X1, in a move to assert dominance in the global AI arena. These innovations not only rival leading AI systems but also promise remarkable cost-efficiency and enhanced accessibility.

Ernie 4.5 represents Baidu’s latest advancement in multimodal foundation models, capable of processing and generating content across text, images, audio, and video.
This model demonstrates significant improvements in understanding, generation, reasoning, and memory over its predecessors.
Ernie 4.5 excels in logical reasoning, and coding capabilities. Baidu asserts that Ernie 4.5 outperforms OpenAI’s GPT-4.5 in multiple benchmarks while being priced at just 1% of GPT-4.5’s cost.
Advancing Deep-Thinking Reasoning with Ernie X1
Alongside Ernie 4.5, Baidu introduced Ernie X1, a deep-thinking reasoning model with multimodal capabilities.
Ernie X1 excels in Chinese knowledge Q&A, literary creation, manuscript writing, dialogue, logical reasoning, and complex calculations. Baidu claims that Ernie X1 delivers performance on par with DeepSeek’s R1 model but at only half the price.
