It is now a routine to make online purchases and track them via email. Google has taken note of this and introduced a new view in Gmail to track all online purchase emails in one place.
“This is an entirely new view that lets you see all purchase-related emails and package updates in one simple, streamlined interface,” the US tech giant notes.
To make tracking easier, a “Purchases” view is now in the left menu, located between the “Important” and “Sent” labels. This saves you from having to search through your inbox to find recent purchases or track upcoming deliveries.
Gmail will still show packages arriving within 24 hours at the top of your primary inbox. Additionally, its Summary Cards feature, a box below the subject line, complete with a quick link to track a product, remains unchanged.
The Purchases tab rollout begins today on both mobile and web for all users with a personal Google account. Its rollout has been timed to come just ahead of the busy Black Friday season and the December shopping spree.
Update to Promotions Tab
Google is also introducing a new feature to the Promotions tab in Gmail to help users find the most relevant emails. Users will be able to sort promotional emails by “most relevant” to easily see updates from brands they engage with most.
The update will also include helpful “nudges” to highlight upcoming deals and timely offers so you don’t miss them. You will still retain control over how you view these emails and can opt to sort them by “most recent” instead.
