OpenAI’s Sora 2 has quickly become one of the most talked-about AI apps of 2025. The upgraded video generator lets users turn simple text prompts into cinematic, animated, or photorealistic videos, and it’s already flooding social feeds with hyper-realistic AI clips.
However, getting into Sora 2 isn’t as easy as hitting “download.” The app is still in limited release, currently available only on iOS in select regions, and you’ll need an invite code to try it out.
How to Get a Sora 2 Invite Code
If you’re eager to join the AI video app, you’ll need to get an invite code to access Sora 2. Here’s how it works:
- Download the Sora app from the Apple App Store; look for the blue and white gradient cloud icon.
- Log in with your ChatGPT account, or select “Use a different account.”
- Tap “Notify me when access opens.”
- Allow push notifications when prompted; that’s how you’ll get notified once your invite is ready.
- Once access is granted, you’ll receive your personal invite code, plus four extra codes to share with friends.
OpenAI says it’s prioritizing ChatGPT Pro users for early access as it tests server capacity and content moderation systems. The app first launched in the U.S. and Canada on September 30, and the company plans to expand access globally.
Once inside Sora 2, users can do far more than just generate short videos. Here’s a quick look at what’s possible inside:
- Generate videos from text or images: choose between cinematic, animated, photorealistic, or surreal styles.
- Use the Cameos feature to create clips starring you or your friends, while keeping full control over how and where your likeness appears.
- Remix or extend other users’ videos: swap characters, change backgrounds, adjust video length, and more.
- Add AI-generated soundtracks, effects, and dialogue, all automatically synced to your video.
- Pro users get access to the Sora 2 Pro model, which delivers higher-quality rendering, faster exports, and advanced creative tools.
Essentially, Sora 2 combines the best parts of ChatGPT’s creative capabilities with a TikTok-style social feed, allowing users to share, remix, and collaborate directly within the app.
When Will Sora 2 Launch on Android?
OpenAI hasn’t officially confirmed the Android release date yet, but early indicators suggest it will follow a few weeks after the iOS launch.
If OpenAI follows its typical rollout pattern, like with the ChatGPT mobile app, Android users can expect Sora 2 to arrive before the end of this year. Android users are encouraged to join the waitlist via OpenAI’s website and enable notifications to get alerts as soon as regional access opens.
At launch, Sora 2 access is tied to ChatGPT Pro, which costs $20/month. Pro users are prioritized for invites and can access the Pro model. OpenAI hasn’t confirmed whether a free tier will be introduced, but a limited-access model is expected later once the platform stabilizes.
