Triply Wants to Bring Travel Agency Operations Under One Roof

Kenyan travel technology company Triply is targeting the operational challenges faced by travel agencies and tour operators with a platform that combines itinerary planning, bookings, customer management, and payments in one system.

Founded in 2021, the Nairobi-based company says it now supports more than 500 travel businesses across six African markets. It is aimed at businesses that still depend on spreadsheets, messaging apps, and separate booking and payment systems to manage their operations.

Rather than compete directly with consumer-facing travel booking websites, Triply focuses on the businesses that organize and sell trips. Its platform allows agents to prepare quotations, generate itineraries, book flights and hotels, manage customers, collect payments, and settle supplier invoices.

“Running a travel business involves much more than taking a booking. Operators need to prepare quotes, secure flights and accommodation, manage customers, and move money reliably, often across borders.” – CEO Peter Wachira

Handling a customer’s initial inquiry is only one part of running a travel agency. Agents must also confirm availability, coordinate accommodation and transport, track payments, and reconcile transactions, particularly when customers and suppliers operate in different countries.

Triply offers to bring these processes together, reducing the need to switch between multiple systems and making it easier for businesses to track inquiries through to completed bookings.

Platforms such as Tripesa help tourism businesses manage bookings and sell experiences, while Reserve Trip connects travel agents to flights, hotels, and other travel services. Savanna Sync offers tour operators tools for preparing quotations, planning itineraries, and managing bookings.

Triply’s difference is that it also handles the money side of running a travel business. Its partnership with Choice Microfinance Bank, announced in May 2026, supports customer payments, transaction tracking, and payments to suppliers.

The company cites Virtue Explorers as an example, reporting a 40% reduction in lead drop-off and a cut of more than 50% in international payment costs through virtual cards. Its payment security technology helped protect $8,000 belonging to Tulivu Holidays from potential chargeback losses.

The difference, therefore, is less about offering a unique booking feature and more about integrating the administrative and financial work behind a trip.

Triply’s reported adoption and industry recognition suggest it has established a presence in African travel technology. However, its longer-term value will depend on whether agencies find it affordable, reliable, and easier to use than their existing arrangements.
