Nokia is still connecting the next billion. Started with the overhauling of what we previously knew about Series 40 devices to bring smartphone-like features. This was done inorder to boost the experience of the entry level user, made necessary due to the stiff competition posed by the rivals over at Android.East Africa is one of the most important markets for Series 40 devices since here is where you will find majority of users only able to spend less than $120 for a phone. Nokia felt it only wise to try and get these users something to make them feel like they have a smartphone.
Earlier today Nokia’s GM for East Africa Bruce Howe announced the two Series 40 devices, the fulltouch Nokia Asha 305 and the touch and type Nokia Asha 202, both of which are sub $100 devices.

Nokia Asha Touch 305 is among the new devices Nokia launched donning a full touch screen on Series 40, and users will get 40 premium games from EA for free, that ofcourse is dependent on if they download them within 60 days. Nokia Asha Touch users can enjoy even more games with 22 classic NAMCO BANDAI arcade tiles including PAC-MAN®, GALAGA® and Final Fantasy now available for download from the Nokia Store, ranging in price from USD 0.99 to USD 2.99. Another thing the Series 40 devices as a whole promise is the data saving capacity, due to the Nokia browser that compresses data upto 90%. This also makes it a faster browser. The phone also comes with the easy swap feature of the second sim card, and it saves sim settings for upto 5 sim cards, price is Kshs. 7,700.

Nokia Asha 202 is a phone that was announced in Q1 among the first Asha phones and has only been made available to this market recently, it is the dual sim version of the Asha 203. Asha 202 is a touch and qwerty device, price is Kshs. 6,250.
