South Africa, Unlike East Africa, already has the Lumias 920 and 820 selling officially in the main channels. February marks an addition to their Nokia Windows 8 portfolio available in the shops. Lumia 620 is now selling on contract at MTN at a R299 monthly contract that includes 150 MB data for 2 years.

Phone contracts are commonplace in Jozi, and users who like to stay away from the tie to the telcos might find it hard with the popular brand high end devices. The telcos there love it as the data costs there are a bit expensive compared to my home country Kenya where prices are around $1 for 20 MB data.

All the same, the Lumia 620 is a very capable device for the mass market seeing as it’s the devices with at the lowest price point for Windows phone 8 devices, while at the same time providing a very good experience for the users.
