Microsoft and Huawei launch a low cost Huawei W1 Windows phone


Microsoft has today announced a low cost Windows phone 8 device in partnership with Huawei, the Huawei Ascend W1.
This is a 4inch device with a 480 x 800 display, a 1.2 Ghz dual core processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon with 4GB internal storage and 512MB RAM The phone’s battery is a 1950 mAh Li-Ion The phone will come with custom apps developed for African consumers by Africans. These apps feature a market specific store within the larger Windows phone store for downloading locally relevant apps and content.

The phone will be priced at around $150 or Kshs 13,000 This will make it the cheapest Windows phone device selling in the region, while the features are premium



    • 510 didnt stand the test of time, the experience of Win 7.5 really isnt exciting, it lacks some basics. Also the RAM, 256MB is limiting. This one on the other hand, let’s wait and see how much Safaricom will price it for.
