The 5 inch dual SIM Galaxy Grand has finally been launched in South Africa at the Samsung Africa Forum. At the same moment, Samsung announced the Galaxy Pocket Neo and Samsung Galaxy Star.
Samsung Galaxy Grand is a 5 inch WVGA screen device with LCD TFT. It runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, with an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. This device fits in between the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S III in size and most specs except the screen technology and resolution which is LCD while the others are Super AMOLED. The Galaxy Grand has a 2100 mAh battery and it’s performance is quite superb. The storage is 8GB and 1GB RAM.
The Galaxy Star S5280 on the other hand is a new device that has just been unveiled. This is a 3 inch Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean device. Screen has 3 inch QVGA Internal storage is 4GB with microSd support of 32GB, 512 MB RAM, camera is 2MP, Bluetooth 4.0 and it runs on EDGE. The battery is a 1200 mAh and it’s Dual-SIM, dual standby.
The Galaxy Pocket Neo is an advancement of the Galaxy Pocket with changes mainly on the version of Android where it has Android 4.1 Jelly Bean compared to the Pocket which has Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the Galaxy Pocket Plus with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It has a Cortex A9 processor with 850MHz and 512MB RAM. Screen has 3 inch QVGA TFT multi-touch, at 240 x 320 pixels resolution with 133 ppi. It also has Bluetooth 4.0 and dimensions of 104.95 x 57.8 x 11.8 mm. Data speeds are 7.2 Mbps HSPA, a 2MB camera and USB 2.0.
