Nokia East Africa today launched the Lumia 1020 in partnership with mobile carrier Safaricom. The device will be available exclusively at Safaricom shops for the next two months in Kenya. The device which is a hero device for Nokia when it comes to imaging will come bundled with accessories by Safaricom.
The price for the Lumia 1020 therefore is Kshs 80,000 and will come bundled with a 1.5 GB data bundle, Leather cover and a DC-18 power pack.
The Lumia 1020 is so far the Windows Phone with the biggest camera sensor and by extension only rivaled by the Nokia Pureview which runs Symbian OS at 41MP camera sensor and 1.2 MP HD front camera. It runs Windows 8 with the GDR3 update, 4.5 inch AMOLED WXGA screen at 1280 x 768 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, 2000 mAh battery that can be boosted by the Camera grip which functions as extra battery, 1.5GHz Dual-core Snapdragon S4, 2GB RAM and 32GB internal memory.
Colours are Black, White and Yellow.
Safaricom through Terminals Senior Manager Livingston Migwi also announced the pricing of two more devices, Lumia 625 at Kshs 29,000 to come bundled with 500 MB data and Kshs worth of 250 airtime.
