Safaricom Subscribers to Enjoy New Roaming Charges in East Africa


Mobile subscribers can now enjoy lower roaming charges after Safaricom introduced bundles for their voice, SMS and internet services. The offer targets customers roaming the East African countries – Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda. Pre-pay customers can access this bundles for Kshs 500/=, Kshs 1000/= and Kshs 2000/= with each bundle catering to customer usage patterns.

Information on the new plans can be accessed by dialling *100# then selecting East Africa Bundles. Pre-pay subscribers roaming with Vodacom Tanzania, MTN Rwanda and Uganda’s UTL or MTN will be able to access the service.

Safaricom currently charges 25/= for subscribers who receive calls in Tanzania, Uganda and the UK. Calls from Tanzania are charged Kshs 75/=, Kshs 85/= from Uganda and Kshs 325/= from the UK.
