Infinix is a largely unknown mobile phone company that has made inroads in Nigeria and now Kenya. Following hotly in the footsteps of Tecno that has been in the market only recently converted to smartphone from dumb phones, Infinix targets the entry level and mid range markets in Kenya. These two bring an assault to the market leaders Samsung and Nokia which have massive numbers in both ranges. Infinix already has a portfolio of around 12 different smartphones and three tablets they call Joypad.
This week they make their first market onslaught with a media launch that will see them bag Safaricom as a distribution partner. Infinix sells dual SIM phones although it’s quite natural to expect Safaricom to insist on a single SIM variant of the device they sell. They have done that previously with Tecno and Alcatel, brands that mainly sell dual-SIM phones in the market.
The device to be launched this week is the Infinix flagship Alpha Marvel X502, a 5 inch Android smartphone.
