Samsung’s Galaxy Mega gets a sequel this quarter. That’s slightly over a year since the previous Galaxy Mega was launched in 5.8 inch and 6 inch versions. Rumours and speculation of the specs sheet have been rife for sometime now. What’s interesting is that it’s already listed as available on sale in Malaysia. With the Galaxy Alpha recently announced and Samsung category flagship Galaxy Note 4 coming the Mega doesn’t expect to see a high level launch, an announcement on their press site is what would naturally be expected. But this hasn’t happened.
Retailer ShenHeng shows the device as available on sale alongside the Galaxy Note 3 Neo which was announced sometime back and is already on sale in many markets including Kenya. Samsung Malaysia where the retailer is from has no information regarding the Galaxy Mega.
6 inch phones are huge in South East Asia so it would just happen that this low key availability would mean that the phone goes on sale in a few markets while devices like the Galaxy Grand 2 and Galaxy Note 3 Neo addresses similar niches in other markets.
The listed specs as per ShenHeng are:
- Android 4.4 KitKat
- 1.5GHz QUad-Core processor
- 6 inch HD TFT
- 1.5GB RAm
- 8GB internal storage, expandable via microSD slot
- 8MP front camera
- Colours: Black and White
The device is available at a price of RM1,299 ($411) or equal monthly installments for Maybank credit card holders.
