Samsung Electronics East Africa has opened up pre-orders of the Galaxy S8 ahead of its arrival in Kenya in May. As from April 10, customers will be able to pre-order the device.
The first 2,000 customers will get the Level Box Slim – a portable Bluetooth speaker that was launched at CES earlier this year. The Level Box Slim speaker has “a powerful 8-watt audio”, a microphone (that enables the speaker to be used to take calls), noise reduction and echo cancellation features. The portable speaker also has an IPx7 water resistance rating, meaning it is protected against water splashes like rain and in the shower but not immersion. Additionally, the speaker can be used as a power bank when you plug in your device via USB cable.
The Galaxy S8 will be available globally as from April 21, but Kenyans will have to wait until May 5th for the device to hit the stores. The S8 will be available in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray and Maple Gold.
Pre-Orders are open at Safaricom Shops and the S8 will be priced at 89,999. The pre-order bundle comes with 10GB of data and a free case.
Samsung also revealed that they are targeting millennials with the duo and the company is working on a financing plan in partnership with Odyssey Capital, to allow customers to get the device and pay for it within a period of six or twelve months.
I would love to get the S8 and this is coming from someone who has had a vendetta against Samsung devices. However, I am disappointed that the Coral Blue color option will not be making its way into the Kenyan market.
