OPPO has unveiled it’s latest mid-range flagship smartphone into the Kenyan market. The OPPO F5 is the successor to last year’s F3 and if you’re wondering what happened to the F4, well four is considered an unlucky number in Chinese because it is nearly homophonous to the word “death”.
Going back to the F5, it comes in three variants; F5, F5 6GB and F5 Youth. The main phone is the F5, it comes with a “full-screen” 6-inch Full HD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 16MP main camera, 20MP selfie Camera with AI beautification mode, a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, 3200mAh battery and powered by a MediaTek Helio P25 Octa-Core Processor.
The F5 6GB maintains most of these specifications aside from the RAM and internal storage which are 6GB and 64GB respectively. The F5 6GB comes either in Red or Black.Information concerning the F5 Youth was scarce, but my guess is that it’s the lower spec’d model of the F5 series. All we know is that the F5 Youth will be coming in January 2018.
Pricing details are as follows, the F5 is up for pre-order for Ksh.32,000 as from 21st to 27th November, sales begin on the 28th of November.
The F5 6GB will be available “before Christmas” for Ksh.39,990.
The highlight of the F5 series is that 18:9 display that takes up most (78.1%) of the front panel of the phone. The F5 series also carries on the company’s focus on selfies, this time with AI beautification mode that will apparently highlight your facial features through machine learning.
This looks like an interesting device to rival the likes of TECNO Phantom 8 and Infinix Zero 5 that were launched just the other day.
