The OPPO F9 presents a big change in OPPO’s midrange lineup, the biggest of which being the inclusion of VOOC Flash Charge among a bevvy of specs that we did not see in the segment. The device which recently launched in Kenya, brings with it a new design, including a new waterdrop notch.
Inside the box, we get the usual, which includes:
- Sim ejector tool
- Quick guide booklet
- Silicon case
- USB cable
- VOOC Flash Charge adapter
- Earphones
First Impressions
The sunrise red colour looks beautiful but so does the twilight blue and the starry purple one that is yet to be availed locally. The best part about the design on the back is the gradient colour which fades from one colour to another, in this case, red to pink. Interestingly, underneath that beautiful colour scheme is a diamond-like design that’s only visible under certain light making the device look much more expensive than it actually is.
On the front, the company has shrunk their notch to something they now call a waterdrop display. This design opens up more display real estate without having an unnecessarily large notch like every other player out there. The display stretches to 6.3-inches, the notch houses the selfie camera, proximity sensor, light sensor and a small cut for the earpiece.
The OPPO F9 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2. As for the cameras, we get dual cameras, for the first time in this lineup. A 16MP lens complemented by a 2MP lens for depth sensing allowing for bokeh shots. On the front, we get OPPO’s famous 25MP lens. Images produced are very subjective, you will have to watch the unboxing video to see a few samples:
The OPPO F9 is available for Kes.35,990 for the 4GB RAM variant and Kes.37,990 for the 6GB variant.
