The budget smartphone market in Kenya is on heat. Tecno just started teasing a new smartphone, the Camon 11 that looks a lot like a Huawei Y9 (2019) competitor. In a market where innovation has been thrown outside the window and now it’s a game of “I can do it too”, it’s no surprise that Tecno has decided to slap a notch on their latest and conveniently feature an AI camera.
The Tecno Camon 11, which already launched in India as the iClick 2 features:
- A 6.2-inch HD display
- Android 8.1 Oreo
- MediaTek Helio A22 processor
- 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage
- Dual 13MP + 5MP camera on the back
- 16MP selfie camera
- 3750mAh battery
There’s also the possibility of a better spec’d Pro version that brings a better processor (Helio P22), larger storage option at 64GB and 4GB RAM and a better selfie shooter with 24MP.
The interwebs have no tales to tell on Tecno’s AI camera but going with the current market trend, we bet it will be smart enough to recognize a scene and automatically adjust its settings for optimal output. We also expect the camera app to include features like beauty mode, panorama, superpixel mode and even a bokeh mode thanks to the secondary lens.
The teasers are also clear that Tecno is very proud of their notch display, despite the fact that it only houses the cameras and usual sensors. We have no pricing details, but Tecno has confirmed that pre-orders for the device start November 12 at select Tecno shops and Telkom outlets countrywide.
