Huawei today has announced their new flagships, the Huawei P30 and the Huawei P30 Pro and they are camera focused as the P20 series.
The Huawei P30 series of phones have a striking design which is dominated by cameras at the back, bright colours and a huge display at the front.
The Huawei P30 has a 6.1 inch 1080 x 2340 OLED display with HDR10 specification plus a notch. It runs on the Kirin 980 processor, has 128GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM.
The Huawei P30 Pro has 6.47 inch 1080 x 2340 HD OLED display with HDR10 specification with very tiny bezels. It runs on the same Kirin 980 processor as the P30, but has more options for storage and has 8GB of RAM.
The cameras have become the defining feature for the Huawei P series of cameras of late and there is a lot of cameras in these phones.
The Huawei P30 has a triple camera system comprising of a main 40MP sensor with a f/1.8 aperture, 16MP ultra wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP telephoto camera with 5 times optical zoom.
The Huawei P30 Pro has a 40MP main camera with a brighter f/1.6 lens, 20MP ultra wide camera with a f/2.2 lens, a ‘time of flight’ sensor for depth information and a 8MP camera with 5x optical zoom and upto 10x hybrid zoom.
The periscope design of this camera is what makes it special since it is a system of prisms and lens elements that allow it to focus objects further. The telephoto camera on the P30 Pro is housed in a square window which stands out from the circle glass windows of the regular cameras.
Both phones share the same 32MP selfie camera with a f/2.0 lens.
The P30 has a 3650 mAh battery which is quite respectable, but the P30 Pro bests it with a massive 4200mAh battery which means it will be a battery champ.
Other key features of the P30 series include fast wired charging (40W for P30 Pro, 25W for P30), and fast wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, USB Type C port, Bluetooth 5, optical fingerprint scanners, dust and water resistance (IP53 for the P30 and IP68 or the P30 Pro), NFC and no headphone jack for the P30 Pro (the P30 has a headphone jack).
The P30 Pro adds ‘acoustic display technology’ which is their way of getting rid of the earpiece for a vibrating display to emit sound.
They run EMUI 9.1 which is running on top of Android 9 Pie.
The Huawei P30 series will ship in gradient colours that were debuted with the P20 series. There is ‘Breathing Crystal’, ‘Aurora’, ‘Pearl White’ and if course ‘Black’.
