Nokia is definitely not slowing down in making its name as popular as it was years ago. The Finnish manufacturer has been on the path to appeal to its fan base with constant releases, which were further and arguably marked by the Nokia 9 PureView with its five rear cameras. The device was announced during the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona Spain, and while it is yet to make its way to Kenya, its low-tier and underpowered siblings – the 4.2 and 3.2 have since been released for purchase in the local market.
Now, Nokia is planning to replenish its lineup with new handhelds in a June 6 event that will be staged in India, one of Nokia key markets, and Italy. The new pocket computers will be christened Nokia 5.2 and Nokia 6.2, which, theoretically, should be direct successors of the 6.1 and 5.1. We, however, have not been keeping track of Nokia’s phone name scheme because it is as erratic as they come: the Nokia 8.1, for instance, succeeds the 7 Plus from last year. The 4.2, which is available locally, is an entire new category, so, we will wait till the official announcement to know what Nokia has in store.
These developments were revealed GSMArena via the Nokia Mobile Twitter handle, so there isn’t much information that can be tied to the devices unless Nokia unconsciously avails more details into the interwebs before the announcement date.
It is worth noting that Nokia has been availing its low-end devices in the Kenyan market with reasonable prices. We hope the new releases will make their way here too as the space continues to experience stiff competition.
