The growing tension with the U.S. hasn’t stopped Huawei rollout of new devices, albeit it has accelerated their launch but tomorrows event has us all biting the tips of our nails. Huawei will be unveiling new devices in Munich, Germany and all eyes will be on them. At this years recently concluded IFA, the tech giant revealed the company’s bet on smart audio products, new colour schemes for Huawei P30 Pro and the flagship Kirin 990 chip.
Here’s what we expect from the Thursday event:
The Huawei Mate 30 Series
This will be the highlight of tomorrows event. There have been a couple of leaks of the Mate 30 Pro, Mate 30 Pro Porsche Design, Mate 30(all which will have the new HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G) and the Mate 30 Lite.
The Mate 30 Pro is slated to pack four rear cameras in a circular enclosure with an LED flash on the side and a notch that will house three front cameras. You get a curved “waterfall” display and thin bezels.
. Expect to also see virtual haptic feedback volume controls too.

The Porsche design will feature a leather finish back with a built-in stand
The regular Mate 30 will feature the same four rear cameras and two front cameras, a flat display(a lot of people prefer this to avoid accidental touches on the curved displays) with thin bezels.
Mate 30 lite will spot a rear fingerprint scanner just below the four rear cameras and a single camera cutout on the front.
It’ll be interesting to see what operating system the flagship will pack since it won’t ship with any of Google’s apps and services. One thing for sure is that it will launch with EMUI 10 out of the box.
Huawei TV
The Huawei TV will also feature Harmony OS that the Honor Vision Smart TV has. It will come with a pop-up camera plus support for Huawei Share and Huawei Sound. However, it is still unknown if the TV will be launched at tomorrow’s event.
Huawei MediaPad M6
The Huawei MediaPad M6 is Huawei’s tablet that packs a Kirin 980 chip and comes in either 8.4″ and 10.8″ variants. It is already available in China and it is expected that it will be launched for the global market tomorrow to compete against the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 but the con is that it doesn’t come with Google’s apps and services pre-installed.
Huawei Band
We expect a new Huawei fitness band to be launched tomorrow with either a Huawei Band 4 or Huawei Band 4 Pro name. It will reportedly feature a heart rate sensor, an oxygen saturation sensor, USB charging port, decent battery life and an AMOLED touchscreen display just like the Huawei Band 3 Pro that was launched with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro last year.
Huawei Watch GT 2
This will be Huawei’s high-end smartwatch that follows its predecessor that was launched last year with the Mate 20. Huawei Watch GT shipped with no Wear OS and kept it simple which is also expected with the second version and will spot two sizes, either the 42mm with a 1.2″ 390×390 AMOLED display and a 46mm with a 1.39″ 454×454 AMOLED display. Other features include the new Kirin A1 chip with Bluetooth 5.1/5.1 LE support, an optical heart rate sensor, gyroscope, barometric sensor and a geomagnetic sensor.
