OPPO likes pushing tech to the edge, literally. They brought a pop-up selfie camera with the OPPO Find X. The same tech was used in its other phones such as the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom, OPPO F11 series, OPPO F15 and the OPPO Reno 2F. The company even had patents for a dual pop-up selfie camera system. The Vivo V17 Pro already rocks this feature.
With the race to bring notch-less, bezel-less and punch-hole-less(should be a word) displays, OPPO wants to bring the selfie pop-up camera to the side.
In a patent found in the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) database, OPPO is working on a motorized camera module is placed on the right-hand side of the phone. From the patent, we can see that the back includes two more cameras below the pop-up mechanism.
Everything else is normal such as the power button, volume rockers and sim slot on the left side while the bottom side houses the speaker, Type-C connector and a headphone jack.
As usual for patents, we don’t know for sure if these designs will go live for OPPO’s future phones. Other more brave smartphone brands might go with this idea for their phones so that’s what to look forward to this year.
