Instagram is now focusing on Stories and a lot of efforts have been directed to this feature they cloned from Snapchat.
A ton of features have been added to Instagram Stories since its launch including music lyrics, polls, gifs, new set of colorful icons for Story Camera modes, questions, hashtags among others.
Instagram Stories now has over 500 million daily active users which are half of the total daily active users. That’s a huge demographic in the apps over 1 billion monthly active users.
That’s a lot of engagement which Facebook is planning to show to advertisers. They recently started pressuring Instagram to double the number of ads served to users by testing back to back ads in Stories.
Instagram Stories were made to monetize Instagram
Instagram has also started testing showing double row Stories because one row wasn’t enough, I guess. They’re now even paginated. Each row with four stories and swiping reveals eight more Stories.
If I opened my Instagram app and saw this, I’m deleting my account. Kidding, I would mute everyone’s Stories.

So if you hated them in the first place especially when the people you followed had a ton of stories to share, then the new features Instagram is testing is going to make you double your dislike.
But if you loved them, good for you – there will be more to watch when this feature goes live.
Instagram will also let users quickly switch between Stories.

Facebook has said that they are working on ways to replace the feed with Stories and they will be the first thing you see when you open the app.
This will definitely change how we use the app.
