Chief Kariuki, the local leader from Nakuru who became popular from using Twitter to solve issues in his location has passed on.
According to Nakuru News, a close family member confirmed his death by adding that he was diagnosed with pneumonia on Monday.
The local administrator will be remembered on Twitter as using the social networking site as a tool for community policing in his location. He had even setup a Telegram channel to continue with his unique way to communicate to his residents.
He was the chief of Lanet Umoja located in Nakuru North sub country of Nakuru Country. This area has a population of 29,000 people and the use of Twitter shot the location into the limelight. Chief Kariuki used Twitter to recover lost animals, children and even helped people with disabilities. Apparently, thanks to his efforts, the crime rate was reduced by 90%.
