The ongoing Spotify drama has made some artists and users switch from the giant streaming platform to its rivals including Apple Music.
Apple Music usually gives first-time subscribers a free three month trial period that lets new users listen to ad-free music with no interruptions, access to lossless, spatial and Dolby Atmos, unlimited downloads and the ability to follow friends and share playlists.
The streaming platform has quietly cut the free trial period from three months to one month.
So if you’re among the users switching from Spotify to Apple Music but you aren’t ready to commit yet, then prepare to have a short trial period.
The tech giant hasn’t officially shared this new update.
It’s worth noting that Spotify Premium Subscribers grew 16% Y/Y to 180 million in Q4.
In terms of top tier features, Apple Music leads with the ability to stream lossless, Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos supported songs which is way better than Spotify’s audio quality. The latter is working to bring a new HiFi tier.
If you decide to pay up after your trial period is over, here’s what you’re going to pay:
- Individual Plan – Ksh 327
- Family Plan(up to six members) – Ksh 547
- University Students – Ksh 163
In comparison, here is Spotify’s premium pricing:
- Individual Plan – Ksh 299
- Duo Plan – Ksh 389
- Family Plan(up to six members) – Ksh 479
- University Students – Ksh 149
