TECNO’s most awaited flagship smartphone series will soon be launching in the country. The tech company will be bringing the Phantom X2 and X2 Pro in Kenya with a launch set for later this month.

The Phantom X2 series was launched last month in Dubai and will soon be available here.

The regular Phantom X2 and Phantom X2 Pro are incredible devices from their features and specs. The series is powered by Dimensity 9000 5G(4nm) chipset and Mali G710 MC10 GPU paired with 8GB RAM and 12GB for the regular and Pro version respectively. HiOS adds  5GB of virtual RAM.

They both come with 256GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage and 5160mAh batteries with support for 45W fast charging.

They also feature a slightly curved 6.8″ Super AMOLED display(1080 x 2400 pixels) with P3 wide colour gamut and rocking a 120Hz refresh rate in a 20:9 aspect ratio. Gorilla Glass Victus is present for protection.

For software, they both come with Android 12 and HiOS 12 straight out of the box. It’s a bit disappointing as Android 13 has been out since its release in August last year.

However, TECNO says that the series will be getting Android 13 upgrade later this year. It’s still a long way to wait especially for a device going for over 100K and with its rivals already boasting of running on Android 13.

For selfies, we get a 32MP selfie camera.

Phantom X2 Cameras:

  • 64MP main
  • 2MP depth
  • 13MP ultrawide

Phantom X2 Pro Cameras

  • 50MP main
  • 50MP portrait
  • 13MP ultrawide

Video recording by the main cameras is capped at 4K 60fps for both too while selfie videos are limited to 1080p 60fps.

The Phantom X2 Pro version has a retractable 50MP portrait lens(65mm f/1.5 aperture)

Both have an under-display fingerprint reader and face unlock for biometrics.

The Pro comes in Stardust Grey and Mars Orange while the regular comes in Moonlight Silver and Stardust Grey.

  1. Thanks for sharing,, can i pay the pre order fee 8k then pay on installments coz i really need the pro version bt i can’t afford the whole sum of cash😔

  2. Not to piss on Tecnos party and It seems like fantastic hardware but for 88K id rather go with the Google Pixel 7. Why? I think locking the bootloader is a miss..given that HiOS isn’t as refined as other offerings say One UI, MiUI etc.
