Safaricom has added a new feature to its MySafaricom app that allows 5G Wi-Fi customers to manage their subscriptions. This complements the app’s existing features and products, which previously allowed customers to manage only their Home Fibre subscriptions.
In December, the carrier added a similar feature for 4G Home customers. As a result, Safaricom’s Home internet customers no longer need to use other platforms to manage their subscriptions, as all options are now available within the app.
The service is available in all areas where 4G signals can be accessed and customers can opt-in by purchasing a KES 10K 4G Wi-Fi router and selecting a package.
Packages and Pricing:
Volume in GB | Speed in Mbps | Guaranteed Bit Rate | Fair Usage Policy | Price in KES | |
4G Wi-Fi Packages | 90 | 5 | N/A | N/A | 3,000 |
4G Wi-Fi Packages | 200 | 5 | N/A | N/A | 6,300 |
5G Wi-Fi was also launched towards the end of 2022 at a time when the telco announced the commercial availability of the technology.
The first step to getting connected is purchasing a router. It costs KES 25K, however, if you choose a 36-month contract with Safaricom, you can get it for free. This is subject to credit vetting and the terms and conditions of the contract.
To get connected, you will also be required to pay a one-time setup fee of KES 5000, which covers the delivery and setup of the router, as well as the provision and registration of the SIM card to be used in your 5G router.
This brings the total cost to KES 30,000. After that, you can choose a package that fits your needs
