Online food delivery service Bolt Food has launched in Mombasa. Bolt Food is an add-on service on Bolt, an online taxi service that serves riders in more than 16 urban centres in Kenya.
Residents of Mombasa are expected to access the service from Mombasa CBD and Nyali environs, with the possibility to expand into other neighbourhoods within Mombasa in the coming weeks.

[UPDATE] Bolt Food adds that the services are now available to residents in Ziwani, Tudor, Makupa, Tononoka, Kibokoni, Ganjoni, and nearby areas. The company has partnered with a variety of restaurants offering different cuisines, including KFC, Chicken Inn, Galito’s, Java House, and more.
To celebrate the launch, Bolt Food customers in Mombasa can enjoy free delivery on their first three orders and up to a 50% discount on their full menu.
Currently, Bolt Food has onboarded over 300 couriers in Mombasa on its platform.
Before this development, Bolt Food had a food delivery network of over 80 estates within Nairobi and its metropolitan area and over 1,250 restaurants where customers can order food through the app.
Since its launch in Kenya in 2017, Bolt says it has experienced notable growth, covering over 900 million km and serving over 4 million customers across cities and urban centers in the country.
In the past year, Bolt launched its regional hub in Nairobi, which serves as the central hub for the company’s operations in Africa across seven countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Tunisia.
