Samsung Galaxy A55, A35 Available in Kenya Ahead of Official Launch

Samsung Galaxy A55 and A35 Cameras

If you’ve been eyeing the Samsung Galaxy A55 and the Galaxy A35 – the company’s latest midrange smartphones – then you don’t have to wait for the official launch as the duo are already in the country.

The two devices will be coming to Kenya but Samsung has yet to announce an official launch date but it is expected that they will announce the smartphones later next month. This doesn’t mean you can’t get yourself either unit or both for yourself as they’re already here.

PhonePlace Kenya is already selling the Samsung Galaxy A35 and the Galaxy A55 starting from Ksh 48,500 and Ksh 52,000 respectively.

Samsung Galaxy A35

The A35 is powered by Samsung’s in-house chipset – Exynos 1380 processor which powered the A54 from last year. It comes with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. It has Android 14 and OneUI 6.1. It will get four Android OS upgrades.

The A35 has a glass front, plastic frame and glass back. The screen is a 6.6-inch SuperAMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits peak brightness. It also has Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection for the screen, IP67 ingress protection, an under-display fingerprint reader and stereo speakers.

Optics get improved as the phone gets a 50MP main camera with OIS accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro. It also has a 13MP selfie camera. All the cameras can shoot 4K 30fps video.

You also have a 5000mAh battery and support for 25W wired charging.

Colour options include Navy, Lilac, Lemon and Ice Blue.

The A55 has an Exynos 1480 paired with 8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage.

You get a 6.6-inch SuperAMOLED panel(1080 x 2340 pixels) with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and has 1300 nits peak brightness.

It has stereo speakers and an in-display optical fingerprint reader. It also comes with glass back and front – both of which will be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. It sports IP67 dust and water resistance.

It has Android 14 and OneUI 6.1 and get four Android OS upgrades. It’s not as huge as the S24 series which gets seven years of Android OS upgrades. Also, unlike the flagship series, the A55 won’t get Galaxy AI.

The phone has a 32MP selfie camera and a 50MP triple main camera which includes a 12MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro. the primary camera has OIS support. All the cameras can shoot 4K 30fps video.

The A55 has a 5000mAh battery and 25W wired charging.

Colour options include Navy, Lilac, Lemon and Ice Blue.
