Apple has officially launched the Apple TV app for Android devices, marking a significant expansion of its streaming services, Apple TV+.

The app is now available for download on the Google Play Store, compatible with Android phones, tablets, and foldable devices running Android 10 or newer.

Key Features of Apple TV+ on Android

  • Offline Downloads: Now, Android users can enjoy their favorite shows and movies offline, with the ability to download content for later viewing. Perfect for travelers or those with limited internet access.
  • Continue Watching: Apple TV+ on Android allows users to seamlessly pick up where they left off, no matter which device they were using previously. Whether you start watching a series on your phone and finish it on your tablet, the app remembers your place.
  • Watchlist: Similar to its iOS counterpart, Android users can add shows and movies to a watchlist, helping them keep track of what’s next.

Subscription to the Apple TV Plus and MLS season pass can be managed directly through Google Play billing. However, the app does not currently support renting or purchasing individual movies and TV shows.

Additionally, the app is optimized for foldable devices, enhancing the viewing experience on larger screens.

What Kind of Content Is Available?

Apple TV+ offers a variety of original content, including acclaimed series like “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and “Ted Lasso,” as well as films such as “CODA” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The service is available for $9.99 per month, with a seven-day free trial for new subscribers.

A major highlight of the new Apple TV Plus Android app is the inclusion of the MLS Season Pass. It offers soccer fans the ability to stream every Major League Soccer match without blackout restrictions. Fans can watch games live or on demand, with exclusive content such as pre-game and post-game coverage, highlights, and in-depth analysis.

This expansion is a strategic move for Apple, which has made significant progress in growing its services division.

The arrival of Apple TV Plus on Android is a significant milestone in Apple’s ongoing push to expand its digital services. It represents a significant step by Apple to make its services available on non-iOS platforms, potentially broadening its subscriber base and increasing recurring revenue from its services division.
