Safaricom Engineering Summit

Safaricom has inaugurated its third annual Engineering Summit, De{cO}dE 2025, under the compelling theme “Charting East Africa’s Digital Destiny.”

The three-day event, hosted at Nairobi’s Sarit Expo Centre from March 18 to 20, has drawn over 10,000 in-person attendees, with thousands more participating virtually, underscoring the region’s burgeoning interest in technology and engineering.

In his opening remarks, Safaricom CEO Dr. Peter Ndegwa emphasized the company’s dedication to advancing Kenya’s digital landscape.

“This summit is more than just a gathering; it’s a testament to our commitment to empowering young innovators. By providing a platform for knowledge-sharing and collaboration, we aim to position Safaricom as the technology partner of choice in shaping Kenya’s digital future,” said Dr. Ndegwa.

The summit features presentations from industry leaders highlighting how emerging technologies like AI and machine learning are transforming business operations and enhancing human potential.

Participants will experience live demonstrations of Safaricom’s latest innovations, including virtual reality experiences, advanced fintech solutions, and contributions from partner organizations.

Dr. Ndegwa also highlighted Safaricom Decode, an initiative designed to celebrate engineering excellence and promote best practices within the tech community.

“Through initiatives like Safaricom Decode, we continue to empower engineers to push boundaries, showcase their technical expertise, and contribute to a more inclusive and innovative future,” he concluded.

Shaping Kenya’s Digital Destiny

With AI, Fintech, and other emerging technologies transforming industries, Safaricom’s Engineering Summit serves as a vital platform to equip young innovators with the skills and insights needed to tackle future challenges.

The event emphasizes inclusivity and sustainability, encouraging participants to drive long-term value and positive impact.

Through forums like the Engineering Summit and initiatives like Safaricom Decode, the company reaffirms its commitment to fostering a collaborative and innovative tech ecosystem.

By empowering the next generation of engineers and innovators, Safaricom continues to shape Kenya’s digital future and strengthen its position as a leading technology partner in East Africa.
