Tech giant Microsoft is bringing its suite of tools powered by AI to the English Premier League (EPL). The Premier League has forged a five-year partnership with Microsoft. This deal starts with the premier itself migrating its core digital infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. The second part of the partnership is an initiative to enhance the fans’ experience.
Central to this initiative is Microsoft’s advanced AI, which will draw upon a knowledge base spanning the past 30 seasons, a repository of 300,000 articles, 9,000 videos, and real-time data from 380 live matches during the season.
The EPL’s digital fan platform runs on Azure AI Foundry and its agentic architecture. Microsoft states that this setup addresses the overwhelming amount of data in modern football by providing an AI-powered assistant designed to meet the unique needs of fans.
With this as the basis, EPL fans are promised better insights on games and the teams they support. Microsoft promises intelligent content that is personalised to meet the needs of the diverse fans across the globe.
“Boasting 1.8 billion fans across every continent, culture, and language. The league is evolving to meet the needs of its global fans, “the tech giant wrote in a post.
As the season progresses, new features are set to be introduced. One key feature is an AI-powered Fantasy Premier League assistant manager, a feature that is likely to be appreciated by many.
Later in the season, fEPL viewers will be able to use AI to create customised video packages and access multi-language content.
