Scammers are back to take advantage of Kenyans’ love for the men’s national football team. With the Harambee Stars set to play Gambia in a World Cup qualifier this Friday, a fake website has appeared online to scam unsuspecting fans.
The site, found at https://tikiti-ticketscom.vercel.app/event/2, is designed to trick people into buying non-existent tickets.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the official body running football in Kenya, has taken note of this and warned Harambee Stars fans to stay vigilant.
These unidentified scammers have also created a fake M-Pesa account, directing Kenyans to pay for match day tickets via a fraudulent PayBill number.
It is a repeat of what was witnessed during the recently concluded CAF CHAN tournament hosted across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The immense demand for tickets has created a loophole for fraudsters looking to earn a quick buck.

FKF has advised those looking to watch the game live to buy official Harambee Stars tickets only from trusted sources. For fans looking to purchase genuine tickets for the upcoming Harambee Stars matches, the official websites are as follows:
- Tickets for the Kenya vs. Gambia match on Friday, September 5, at 4 PM can be bought at Tikiti website.
- Tickets for the Kenya vs. Seychelles match on Tuesday, September 9, at 4 PM can be purchased on the Tikiti website.
For those partial to USSD, they can simply dial *519*55#. Haste is key, as the federation will not sell any tickets on the actual matchday.
