Vivo has officially confirmed the global rollout of OriginOS 6, marking the end of Funtouch OS for international markets.
The new system, based on Android 16, will debut with the Vivo X300 and X300 Pro before expanding to other flagship and mid-range devices in the coming months.
This move finally unifies Vivo’s software ecosystem worldwide, bringing the sleek, animation-rich experience that was previously exclusive to China to users everywhere.
From Funtouch to OriginOS
For years, Vivo shipped two different Android skins: Funtouch OS for global markets and OriginOS for China.
Funtouch OS focused on simplicity, stability, and broader compatibility with Google services, while OriginOS pushed design boundaries with dynamic visuals, interactive widgets, and deep customization options.
That divide is now closing. With OriginOS 6, Vivo is retiring Funtouch OS and standardizing its software experience worldwide. This global rollout aims to deliver the same modern design and powerful performance enhancements that Chinese users have enjoyed since 2020.
Vivo says OriginOS 6 was designed around three key ideas: speed, smoothness, and visual fluidity. The OS introduces a new animation engine that improves frame-rate stability and responsiveness during app launches and multitasking.
Cold-start times are shorter, and data loading is faster, thanks to Vivo’s Origin Smooth Engine, which optimizes CPU, storage, and display performance.
The interface has also been reimagined. OriginOS 6 brings a refined “Origin Design” system that uses soft colors, translucent layers, and adaptive motion effects.
A new feature called Origin Island provides live updates, contextual suggestions, and notifications in a pill-shaped floating module similar in spirit to Apple’s Dynamic Island.
Beyond looks and speed, OriginOS 6 integrates Vivo’s latest AI innovations. The OS now features AI Erase, AI Photo Enhance, Smart Call Assistant, and DocMaster tools that automate photo editing, document organization, and contextual tasks.
Vivo has also partnered with Google AI to strengthen on-device intelligence while keeping user data secure and private.
Rollout Timeline and Eligible Devices
The global rollout begins in November, starting with the Vivo X300, X300 Pro, X Fold 5, X 200 series, iQOO 13, and iQOO Neo 10 series. More devices, including mid-range and older Vivo and iQOO phones, will receive the update gradually through 2026.
Vivo says updates will be distributed via OTA (over-the-air) in phases, depending on region and model.
