Two names under the Palahala Media Group umbrella are in the running for this year’s Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) Awards, with Techweez and Gearhaus both earning nominations in the 10th annual edition of the awards.
Public voting is now live at bakeawards.co.ke/vote, with ballots open until June 4, 2026.
Techweez has been nominated in the Technology Creator category, a recognition that reflects years of consistent, in-depth reporting on the technology stories that matter most to Kenyan and African audiences at large.
Ranging from product reviews and policy analysis to breaking news across the continent’s tech landscape, Techweez has built a reputation as a go-to reference for readers who want direct, accurate, and clear reporting.
Meanwhile, Gearhaus has found an even bigger showing, picking up nominations across three categories. The automotive podcast, which covers everything from first rides to motorsports, earned nods in Topical Creator, Video Creator, and Audio Creator categories.
Hosted by Kalasinga and Vanilla with plenty of banter and unapologetic opinions about how cars shape identity, culture, and community in Kenya, Gearhaus has built a loyal following on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and its social media handles since launch last year.
With nominations in three categories, it is one of the most recognized entries at this year’s awards and shows how quickly the podcast has built a place for itself in Kenya’s podcast scene despite being only a year old.
The BAKE Awards are celebrating their tenth anniversary with 23 categories covering Kenya’s digital creator space, including agriculture, public health, financial literacy, and grassroots journalism.
Before public voting opened, a panel of five judges spent five weeks reviewing nominees based on ethics, consistency, and innovation.
The gala night is set for June 6, 2026, in Nairobi.
