Super fast charging is where the smartphone competition has turned its eyes to. Tech companies like Infinix never shy away from experimenting with rapid fast charging technologies.
In June last year, they teased their 160W Ultra Fast Charging brick. It never went commercial.
This year, the company teased of a Note series phone that featured a 120W fast charging.
Infinix later unveiled that the Note 12 VIP will ship with a 120W HyperCharge brick. We already had a hands-on, full review and comparison review of the Infinix Note 12 VIP and that blazingly fast charging puts the phone way ahead of its rivals.
You can go from 2% to 85% in 15 minutes. A full charge from empty will take 21 minutes.
Infinix is now pushing that tech to the extreme as it showcased a 180W fast charging technology they’re calling Thunder Charge.
CEO Benjamin Jiang shared a video on Facebook that showed a concept phone charging with the ThunderCharge icon and 180W power rating.
It’s a 10-second clip and you can see in that time frame, the concept phone charge goes up a per cent.
It’s unknown if the company will ship 160W Thunder Charge with its future smartphones or it will just remain in the lab.
120W fast charging is way too capable and Infinix should ship this feature with its smartphones in its other lineups such as its upcoming flagship Zero 11.
To help achieve fast-charging capabilities, Infinix incorporated a dual-charge pump and dual-cell battery. This enables the Infinix Note 12 VIP to adjust the voltage and amperage to the optimal ratio, as well as doubles the available input.
The Infinix Note 12 VIP’s charge cycle counts up to 800 with up to 85% battery capacity retained. Also, the 120W HyperCharge is certified by the TüV Rheinland Safe Fast-Charge System certification.
It’s worth noting that you need to actually enable the Super Fast Charge option to achieve these speeds.
When it comes to the Note 12 VIP, Infinix kills two birds as you’re getting ultra-fast charging and solid battery life.
