Huawei’s Ascend P7 first photos leaked

Huawei is the only major player in the mobile space who is yet to show us the device they’ll be banking on to push their agenda around the globe. Samsung, Sony, LG and HTC have already done so with their Galaxy S5, Xperia Z2, G Pro 2 and One M8 smartphones respectively. Even emerging players like Oppo have declared their intentions. Seems like it won’t be long till we see the Chinese company follow suit.

Though not marked as the Ascend P7 anywhere, images that have surfaced on Weibo show us what is likely a prototype of Huawei’s upcoming flagship smartphone. See them below:

Huawei P7

The P7 is expected to upgrade to a full HD (1080p) display from the P6’s 720p display. A custom HiSilicon processor clocked at 1.6 GHz is expected to power the device as is 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage (expandable), a 2460 mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat with version 2 of Emotion UI. After ZTE shocked us with the 13 megapixel front-facing shooters on both the front and the back and Oppo went a notch higher with a camera that stitches 50 megapixel photos, Huawei will also seek redemption in game it started with the P6: stellar front-facing shooters. The P7 is expected to raise the bar and come closer to the Nubia X6 by packing an 8 MP front-facing camera. A 13 megapixel camera will take care of your non-selfie endeavours.

We don’t have a date for when Huawei will make the P7 official but we can be sure that we are not far away. Huawei’s only high profile smartphone launches so far have been the Ascend Mate 2 and the Ascend G6.
