Last year, Samsung unveiled a camera centric device bearing the name of its then flagship, the Galaxy S4. The Galaxy S4 Zoom and its 16 megapixel camera was expected to get an upgrade this year in the form of the Galaxy S5 Zoom and like before, expected to borrow the latest Samsung flagship’s name despite having little or nothing at all to do with it (of course except for the software). That will be happening as has been revealed by leaks and rumours in the last three weeks.
Samsung has now confirmed that the next Galaxy Zoom cameraphone is coming and will be announced at an event in Singapore on the 29th of April branded “Kapture” with emphasis on the K to indicate the name. We may not be sure that Galaxy K will really be the name but everything points to it. Still, we are safe waiting for the official announcement in a fortnight.
Here is what the Galaxy K cameraphone is expected to pack:
- Display: 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD (720p)
- Processor: A Samsung Exynos 5 (5260) hexa-core CPU coupled with a Mali-T624 GPU
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Camera: 20 MP main camera with Xenon flash and 10X optical zoom backed by a 2 MP front-facing shooter
- OS: Android 4.4.2 KitKat
