As Uganda anticipates its 2016 presidential elections, the country has been preparing for a biometric voter registration exercise. Equipment for this project will be provided by South Korean firm, Suprema. The enrollment face was initiated in April with Suprema expected to supply thousands of RealScan G-10 live scanners for voter identification.
The scanner is a compact piece of equipment which facilitates the capture of high speed images with equally impressive image processing capabilities. Suprema VP, Young S Moon notes that through biometrics, Uganda can provide a better way for the protection of citizen identities in addition to voter registration.
