The iPhone 6 is launching in Kenya via Airtel this week. Airtel Kenya has today opened up pre-orders for the two devices the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. We had received reports that the device will be selling at their stores, something that had been exclusive to Orange, and Airtel confirmed thereafter.
Pre-orders can be arranged and paid for from the following select Airtel shops in Nairobi and a few other towns: Parkside shop, Sarit Centre shop, Koinange shop, Moi Avenue shop, Thika Road Mall (TRM) Express Plus shop, Mombasa Moi Avenue shop, Nyali shop, Galleria, Lavington, Village Market, Nyeri shop and Eldoret Shop.
In a statement, Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said, “At Airtel, we’re all about helping our customers get their hands on the latest devices. Our decision to stock the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus speaks to this quest to meet our customer needs and we remain confident that our world-class network will provide a seamless customer experience on this latest incarnation of the iPhone.”
Prices for the devices will be Kshs 86,000 for the 16GB iPhone 6, Kshs 96,000 for the iPhone 6 64GB while the iPhone 6 Plus 16GB will sell at Kshs 96,000 and the 64GB iPhone 6 Plus at Kshs 105,000. This is contrary to the price we had received earlier from unofficial channels where prices started at Kshs 100,000.
