Besides the fair Zenfone 2, Asus still had more to show the world in mobile technology. The Zenfone Zoom’s centre of attraction as the name hints at is the camera. Think of it as the Zenfone 2 but targeted specifically at the shutterbugs. It is what Asus is calling “the world’s thinnest smartphone to feature a 13MP camera with a 3X optical zoom.” Whether it will live up to the hype is another thing. For one the Zoom part of the name reminds of Samsung’s similar but bulky effort with the Galaxy K Zoom or the Galaxy S4 Zoom and the “eye”/oreo at the back is reminiscent of one of the most popular camera-phones to date, the Lumia 1020. If it can outdo either of those is something we’ll have to wait and see. Good thing is Asus doesn’t position it as such outright.
