It’s not exactly well at Safaricom house. This is because of some changes in the senior leadership late this afternoon. General Manager Head of Consumer Business Peter Arina and Pauline Warui, Director Customer Management will be leaving Safaricom in what is said is a “move to pursue personal interests”.
CEO Bob Collymore attributes the changes to “being necessitated by an appreciation that we as a business have become disconnected from our customers’ needs at various levels” adding that Safaricom moves to repurpose itself to “delivering a truly differentiated value proposition for our customers that is based on three key pillars: i.) Superior customer insights, ii.) Operational excellence in our market execution and lastly iii.) The delivery of great products and services.”
To take over these positions are Sylvia Mulinge who goes on to be General Manager Consumer Business Unit and Janet Atika to take over as head of the Customer Management Team. Rita Okuthe exits her role as Director of Marketing to become General Manager of the Enterprise Business Unit.
Other appointments include James Muteti who will be head of Consumer Sales Department, Victor Ngumo will be Head of Retail, Arjun Sing Dhillion will be Head of SME and Channels while Eric Acholla goes on to head marketing.
“These changes are necessary for us to be truly reflective of the demands of our customers and to prepare ourselves for the heightened competitive environment in which we are operating,” commented Bob Collymore.
