Another end month, another time to recap the top trending Google searches that were made by Kenyans for the specific month. June is almost over and Google has already released the trending searches for this month.
The top trending search for June is the Euro 2016 tournament and it is no surprise since football tournaments generate a lot of interest from Kenyans. The tournament is still ongoing and it is scheduled to end on the 10th of next month.
Second on the list is Muhammad Ali the legendary American boxer who died early this month at the age of 74. His death send ripples on social media and in turn made people search more about him and that is why it took second spot.
Another footballing tournament was in the top 3 of the trending Google searches which is Copa America. This is the football tournament which aims to determine the best out of the national teams in South America and it was quite eventful as shown in the final where Lionel Messi announced his retirement.
Next in the list is Brexit, which is an abbreviation of British exit where UK residents were voting to either remain or leave the European union. Well they ended up voting to leave the EU which caused an uproar on social media.
Other trending searches made by Kenyans included the Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria thanks to the charges made against him, the eventful NBA finals between the Cavs and Warriors, Father’s day that was held in June 19th, the unfortunate fatal shooting of an American singer, Christina Grimmie, unfortunate death of a Nigerian coach Stephen Keshi and the Orlando shooting.
