Infinix may not yet be done with the Hot series this year. At least that is the kind of message one gets after specifications of an unnamed Infinix smartphone, rumoured to be the Hot 4, showed up on popular device benchmark site Geekbench.

The Infinix smartphone in question bears the model number X556 which is very much in line with model numbers of previous members of the Infinix Hot series. The Infinix Hot3 which was launched back in April and its LTE variant which became available in Kenya in June have model numbers X554 and X553 respectively making the Infinix Hot 4 rumours make some little sense.

As per the Geekbench listing, the Infinix Hot 4 will pack a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.25GHz, 2GB RAM as well as run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

At this point, other details like the display size and tech in use are unknown but Infinix may as well stick with the 5.5-inch on the Hot 3.

Just recently, Infinix debuted another member of the Hot series, the Hot S, in Nigeria. Unlike traditional members of the Hot series who’ve stuck by the series’ budget spec sheet expectations, the Hot S breaks the mould and introduces novelties that we’ve only seen in mid-range devices like a fingerprint scanner. It is not clear if the Hot S was just an exception to the rule or this will be what we should start expecting from members of the Hot series starting with the Hot 4.
