While Lenovo may have axed nearly all of Motorola Mobility’s employees, the Chinese company still has grand plans for the Motorola brand like it hinted to a while back.
Those plans include marketing all its smartphones under the Motorola brand instead of its own. That means death to Lenovo’s smartphone series like the Vibe, the K series, the Phab series and others even though that is yet to be officially confirmed.
While the change in strategy for Lenovo, one of the top 10 smartphone vendors in the world, is said to be for convergence’s sake which will make it easier for the company’s marketing teams, it is also thought to be as a result of the popularity of the Motorola Moto brand in overseas markets where the company is now fully turning its attention to as competition at home (China) stiffens.
