Telegram Messenger Adds Custom Themes On The Android App

Themes are not new in the market as we have custom themes on our smartphones or previously on social networks like Twitter where you look for one that better suits your taste.

It seems Telegram understands that very fact of having more personalization options is usually welcome and they started that by introducing themes for desktop. Now on Android, Telegram users can switch to a different theme or create a new one right within the app.

If you want to change from the default theme, just go to settings and click on themes. Two themes were added by Telegram alongside the default one: blue and dark but the company also added the ability to create your own custom theme.

There is a menu option on the theme settings labelled “create new theme” where after tapping it, it will request that you give the theme a name. The new theme will be automatically selected and you then tap on the palette icon on the top right to further customize it.

Telegram gives you several elements to customize your app like the background, action bars, list selectors, stickers menu, e.t.c which is quite extensive.

According to the company, Telegram themes are ‘part of the open platform’ so anyone can create their own them and share it with the world. Just like the themes for the desktop app, you will be able to see these creations on the @themes channel which will now include the ones for Android.

Telegram has also assured the iOS users that they will get they will get the update “in a couple of weeks” but they are also planning something different for them which sounds interesting.
