Snap Inc is the company known for its app Snapchat, which allows you to send disappearing photos, videos and texts. However, that is all software and it was reported a while ago that they were betting on making hardware so that they can stay ahead of Facebook.

Well now according to the New York Times, they are apparently working on another hardware product which is actually quite awesome. The product in question here is a drone and the publication was not able to get more details about it since the three people who were asked about it since the details were confidential.

See, Snap identifies itself as a camera company and the idea of having a ‘Snap drone’ makes a lot of sense. It will allow people to take aerial snaps which can make your Stories more interesting to your friends and followers. You can bet they will add GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for tagging the location of the Snaps and transferring the content to your phone.

This gives us a glimpse of a future where Snap will be banking on hardware to make sure that their 158 million daily active users don’t feel the need to jump to other platforms. If the drone project materializes, it will join the company’s inaugural hardware product, Spectacles, which allows you to record short circular videos from a person’s point of view.

Since Facebook has a habit of copying Snapchat, let’s see what they will come up with on the hardware front to counter Snap Inc.
