Photography lovers will appreciate the camera prowess of the Google Pixel and it serves as good news now that the same camera app and HDR+ technology on the Pixel devices can now run on any Android device with Snapdragon 820, 821 and 835 thanks to B-S-G, a Ukrainian developer on the 4PDA forum.
The developer has posted a modified version of the Google Camera v4.4.012.156195200, which was pulled from Android O developer preview. The Pixel’s camera app has been modded before but no one has ever managed to get it working on non-Google devices. B-S-G managed to do this by forcing the camera app to think that it is running on the next generation Pixel devices.
The modified app has the HDR+ technology fully functioning and XDA reports that they have tested the application on LG G6, OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S8. Google’s HDR+ technology enables the camera app to pull in a lot of light to improve the quality of the image in low-light situations.
XDA posted the following images to demonstrate how well the modded app works on the OnePlus 3:

The app is not available on the Play Store, thus you will have to sideload it by enabling installation from unknown sources under the security settings. XDA has confirmed that the app is safe to install and does not contain any malicious insertions in the apk file.
