Applications Open for Women in Tech Incubator with Ksh 1 Million Seed Grant Prize

The Standard Chartered Women in Technology incubator Kenya is an initiative of Standard Chartered Bank in partnership with Strathmore University @iBizAfrica incubator that was launched about a month ago, with Standard Chartered Bank pumping Ksh.20 million into the programme. The programme is targeting women entrepreneurs and business owners in Kenya who want to, or are using technology to grow their business but lack the necessary support.

Standard Chartered Women in Technology incubator is looking for 10 teams that will compete to secure seed funding and nine months ongoing support from Standard Chartered and @iBizAfrica to assist with go-to-market and scale. From the 10 teams that will pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges, the top 5 teams will walk away with up to USD 10,000 (or Ksh.1 million) seed grant funding to launch and grow their businesses.

Standard Chartered is looking to recruit the best entrepreneurial minds, women-lead startup teams leveraging on technology as a key driver of innovation in business. The programme focuses on the following thematic areas:

  • Agribusiness
  • E-Commerce
  • E-Health
  • Digital Banking
  • Education
  • Information Technology
  • Mobile solutions

To participate in the programme, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a woman
  • Aged between 18 and 35
  • Be a Kenyan national
