HMD Global, the current home for Nokia phones launched a new phone yesterday, the Nokia 2.3 and it has similar specs to phones on its price range.
it features a 6.2 inch HD+ display with a tear drop notch and a 19:9 aspect ratio, nothing special there. It is powered by the Mediatek Helio A22 processor and backed by 2GB of RAM.
The good thing is that it runs Android 9 Pie and they say it is ready for Android 10. HMD updates its phones to the latest Android OS pretty frequently and they promise 2 years of updates, which is more than most manufacturers on Android.
The Nokia 2.3 has three cameras on its arsenal. At the front, we have a single 5MP selfie camera that can do face unlock. At the back, we have two cameras which consist of a 13MP main camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 2MP depth camera.
There is also AI powered foreatures like portrait mode and low light imagine which involve advanced image fusion and exposure stacking. The AI optimization also extend to the battery thanks to adaptive battery technology where it leans our habits.
The 2.3 comes with a large 4000mAh battery like some of its siblings which means that it will last long in a single charge. However, it comes with a 5W charger, which means it will take longer to charge that battery when it is depleted.
This phone ships with 32GB of internal storage and you can expand it further with a microSD card upto 512GB. There are dual SIM and single SIM models and of course they are both nano SIM variants.
It supports 4G and interesting enough Bluetooth 5.0 which allows for dual audio support. There is a microUSB port here, USB-C is still found in more expensive phones. There is a headphone jack and yes you can listen to radio on it, but you need the usual headset to act as an antenna.
HMD also touts its dedicated Google Assistant button on the Nokia 2.3 and it is not the first time they have done this. This allows you to quickly access the voice assistant by tapping the button and then placing your request.
This phone will ship in three colours: Cyan Green, Sand and Charcoal and they have priced it at $121
